Service Networks can only have one Branch but still need to have the Branch Sequencing and Label Style assigned to fully develop into a Network. If you find that they are being called Pipe Editing, it is because they are in a state of limbo where they are not yet completed so follow through and finish their creation so they are available for Editing in the Pipes VGE and Plotting.
