When you create the cul-de-sac you choose 'transfer chainages' - essentially, these let you decide how much of the road centreline goes into the cul-de-sac and also the adoption of elevations using the road crossfalls to the cul-de-sac grading.

By default, the start transfer chainage (where road elevations are used to set the IP elevations on the cul-de-sac, from the start of the cul-de-sac toward the end) and end transfer chainage (where road elevations are used to set the IP elevations on the cul-de-sac, from the end of the cul-de-sac toward the start) are set to be the chainage of the road at the centrepoint of the court bowl.

If you want to get rid of these and take control from the start to the end, you need to change these.  To do this:

  • Start the Create/Edit Cul-de-sac command and select the cul-de-sac

  • On the right side, take note of the Start Chainage and End Chainage at the top.  These are the chainages (measured against the Road alignment) where the cul-de-sac starts and ends.
  • For the first Calculate Levels To input, type in a value that is 0.1m MORE than the Start Chainage listed at the top (if the cul-de-sac is at the END of the road - if it's at the START of the road, then the Chainage should be 0.1m LESS than the Start Chainage)
  • Repeat this for the second Calculate Levels To input
  • Update the cul-de-sac and exit

The extra IP's will be removed and you can design as you like between the first and last IP.
